tom sachs and i did a road trip from milan to marrakech. it turned out to be the month before i met my now husband, making it the last thing i did as a single lady. we made a book of it that summer and then got distracted with other things. now, looking back, the book became this artifact that is more interesting with the passage of time. this was just pre-iphone, and if you think about it, the iphone totally changed travel for all of us. i guess now it feels like a testament to our rapidly changing world and highlights the eternal challenges of being alone in other countries. the book is a mixture of text and drawings and maps and charts and graphs. oh and lists. and yes. lots of photos. we finally published it in 2015.
